Grilled Pineapple BBQ Ranch Salad

The Taylor Farms BBQ Ranch Chopped Salad Kit has everything you need to assemble a smoky and satisfying salad brimming with crunchy textures and flavors: romaine lettuce, broccoli, red and savoy cabbage, green onions, and carrots, all topped with smoky bacon, crunchy chili lime tortilla squares, and our creamy BBQ ranch dressing.

And while it’s tempting to top this BBQ pit-inspired salad with go-to’s like grilled chicken, we’re here to make a case for an entirely new direction: grilled pineapple! Oh, yes. Grilling a pineapple enhances its natural sweetness and adds a smoky, caramelized flavor. It also softens the pineapple’s texture, making it juicier and more tender. So, go fire up that grill! You’re minutes away from your new favorite salad.

Directions

  1. Prepare the Pineapple: If using a fresh pineapple, peel, core, and slice it into rings. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Place the pineapple rings on the preheated grill.
  2. Grill the Pineapple: Grill each side for 2-3 minutes until grill marks appear and the pineapple is slightly caramelized. Remove from the grill and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the Salad: In a large bowl, empty the greens from the Taylor Farms BBQ Ranch Chopped Salad Kit. Set toppings and dressing aside.
  4. Assemble the Salad: Add the grilled pineapple rings to the salad. Add toppings from the salad kit, including chili lime squares and uncured bacon bits. Drizzle with BBQ Ranch Dressing from the kit and toss to combine.
  5. Serve: Serve the salad immediately. This salad pairs well with grilled chicken or shrimp for a more substantial meal. Enjoy your Grilled Pineapple BBQ Ranch Salad!

Grilled Fruit: Always in Season

Now that you’re on board with grilling pineapple, you might as well keep going. Grilling fruits can bring out their natural sweetness and add a unique depth of flavor to your dishes.

Here are some other fruits that can be grilled, all with delicious results:

  • Peaches: Halve and pit them, then grill until they have nice char marks. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or as a topping for salads.
  • Watermelon: Cut into thick slices and grill until slightly caramelized. It’s excellent in a salad with feta cheese, mint, and a balsamic glaze.
  • Figs: Slice in half and grill until tender. Grilled figs pair wonderfully with goat cheese and a drizzle of honey!
  • Bananas: Keep them in their peels and grill until the skin is blackened and the fruit is soft. Enjoy with a sprinkle of cinnamon or chocolate sauce, or with ice cream and caramel.
  • Mangoes: Cut into thick slices and grill until caramelized. They are delicious in salsas or as a side with grilled meats.
